Legal Resources for the University of Kansas

The Office of the General Counsel is a One University office that is responsible for providing legal support to all of the University's campuses (Lawrence, Medical Center, Edwards, Wichita, Salina and Yoder) as well as the University's controlled affiliates such as Kansas Athletics, Inc. and its two research supporting entities (KUCR and KUMCRI). The University of Kansas Medical Center is comprised of the Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Health Professions, along with its significant research enterprise.

In carrying out such responsibilities, the General Counsel and other members of the office handle a broad variety of legal matters including constitutional law, regulatory compliance, litigation, employment, research, transactional, open records, policy, athletics, law enforcement, real estate, construction, and contracts for the University and its controlled affiliates.

The Office of the General Counsel operates across multiple campuses, with staffing in Strong Hall in Lawrence, Murphy Administration Building on the Medical Center campus, and Regnier Hall on the Edwards campus.
